Hotel Lanai at Koele, A Sensei Retreat, is the first all-inclusive resort in the Four Seasons group to be dedicated exclusively to well-being. It has just opened its doors on a small island in the Hawaiian archipelago.
Sensei is a new wellness company founded by Oracle boss Larry Ellinson and doctor David Agus. This American tech billionaire is also the owner of the private island of Lanai. So it’s no surprise that this partnership with Four Seasons began on this island.
Sensei’s main aim is to prove to the world that hydroponic farms are the future of nutrition on a global scale. This new farming technique uses 10 times less water to grow vegetables with excellent nutritional properties, and Sensei’s first farm is located on the island of Lanai. Sensei’s other stated aim is to help people be healthier, so Larry Ellinson has surrounded himself with wellness specialists to support the development of this new resort.
Your health taken in hand by a Sensei guide
The approach to well-being here focuses on three practices: movement, nourishment and rest, which are linked and enriched by each other. Each wellness stay is personalized and prepared in advance in consultation with a dedicated “Sensei Guide”, to tailor the program to the client’s individual needs.
Customers have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with their Sensei guides, who are experts in a field, for guided sessions on topics such as nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, stress management and yoga. Each session is entirely personalized according to each client’s intentions.
Here, the experience is optimized by technology such as body heat mapping and sleep analysis. Customers leave with a roadmap to continue on the path to everyday well-being. There’s also the option of continuing the follow-up with your practitioner once you’re back home.
Each guest has a private spa in a hale (“house” in Hawaiian). These hales are designed as individual sanctuaries, with treatment areas, indoor/outdoor showers, infrared saunas, Japanese ofuro baths, private pools and lounges; two hales also include watsu pools.
Dinner by Sensei by Nobu
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa has long been at the forefront of innovative cuisine, and has become the star of Japanese gastronomy. Four Seasons guests will enjoy a wellness menu created by Chef Nobu and his team in close collaboration with Sensei nutritionists.
A wide range of activities to suit all tastes
With 36,000 hectares of almost untouched wilderness, with pristine beaches, red lava cliffs and lush rainforests, Lanai is a playground for lovers of the great outdoors. At the hotel’s sister property, the beachfront Four Seasons Resort Lanai, guests can enjoy a designed golf course as well as diving, snorkelling, fishing, sailing and other water sports.
The minimum stay is three nights, but the resort recommends a minimum of seven nights for complete relaxation.
