Our review: Surrenne, London’s new temple of wellness

By Pascal Languillon, Director of Luxe Wellness Club.

Having marveled at the Maybourne Riviera on the Côte d’Azur, an architectural gem suspended above the Mediterranean, I was eager to discover Surrenne, the Maybourne group’s new spa, this time in London. Nestled within the iconic The Berkeley hotel in chic Knightsbridge, Surrenne is a new kind of wellness destination, part ultra-exclusive private club, part state-of-the-art holistic sanctuary. I spent a short family stay here, staying in two Belgravia rooms overlooking Hyde Park, interconnecting rooms to ensure comfort and privacy for the whole family. Here’s the story of a luxurious and rejuvenating interlude in the heart of the British capital.

A tailor-made welcome in a refined setting

On arrival at The Berkeley on a rainy winter day, we’re immediately seduced by the hushed, elegant atmosphere. The staff welcome us with warmth, professionalism and discretion. The rooms are just like the hotel itself: refined, bright and comfortable. From our room, the view over Hyde Park invites contemplation.

We really appreciated the little touches for the children.

But beyond the quality of the accommodation, it’s Surrenne ‘s unique wellness experience that catches my eye. We head for the hotel’s basement, where this new space, already considered one of Europe’s finest urban spas, awaits us.

Surrenne: an innovative concept combining science, luxury and global well-being

From the moment you enter, Surrenne impresses with its soothing architecture and noble materials. Light-colored wood, natural stone, a play of light… You enter a sanctuary of silence and serenity. This is not a classic spa, but a holistic wellness center designed down to the last detail, in partnership with internationally renowned experts.

Here, everything is designed around an integrative vision of health, combining cutting-edge aesthetic treatments, longevity technologies, fitness and deep relaxation.

A spectacular swimming pool and exceptional facilities

My first discovery is the majestic indoor pool: 22 meters long, marble columns, a ceiling studded with subdued lights, all in the ambiance of a Roman thermal spa revisited with very contemporary taste.

As for the gym, it has nothing to envy the best performance clubs in London: state-of-the-art Technogym equipment , a yoga studio, cryotherapy cabins and even a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber. The aim here is clear: to optimize health and physical performance over the long term.

Exceptional signature treatments

The facial I’m testing that day is by Augustinus Bader, a name that has become a must in the world of cellular cosmetics. For an hour, a spa expert applies precious textures with precise gestures, accompanied by gentle stimulation and discreet but effective technologies. The result is stunning: my skin looks rested, toned and regenerated.

As for my wife, she opts for a body massage using Seed to Skin organic oils, for deep muscle relaxation.

A forward-looking approach to well-being

Beyond the apparent luxury, what really impresses at Surrenne is its vision. Here, we don’t just offer massages or classic treatments. The place is positioned at the forefront of new trends in integrative health, with a real focus on longevity, prevention and optimization of cognitive and physical functions.

Here, you can carry out a complete wellness assessment using advanced biomarkers, follow personalized coaching programs over several months, and even benefit from consultations with experts in functional medicine. All in an environment of absolute comfort.

Healthy food… and gourmet food!

After a morning dedicated to relaxation, we lunch at the Berkeley Café, which offers a tasty, well-balanced menu in line with Surrenne‘s philosophy. On the menu: vitamin-packed bowls, fresh juices, wellness infusions… and for dessert, the inevitable moment of pleasure: we taste Cédric Grolet’s famous pastries, served here with British elegance. What could be more chic than a sweet interlude?

A special mention for the carved lemon, so finely executed that you hesitate for a moment to stick your fork in it. The marriage between well-being and gastronomy is perfectly balanced here, without guilt or excess.

In the evening, dinner at The Emory, the ultra-exclusive sister hotel.

In the evening, we have the privilege of dining at the brand-new The Emory, sister hotel to the Berkeley, also owned by the Maybourne group. Discreetly linked to the Berkeley by a private passageway, The Emory is an even more confidential, ultra-luxurious address reserved for a select few.

The dinner here is in keeping with the setting: impeccable service, refined cuisine and a hushed ambience. An elegant way to round off a day of well-being with a memorable gastronomic touch.

This short family stay confirmed to me that it is possible to enjoy an exceptional wellness experience while sharing precious moments with loved ones. Surrenne succeeds in combining the demands of a private club, the gentleness of a palace spa, and the inclusivity of a space designed for all generations.

Whether you come solo for a complete health program, as a couple for a romantic weekend, or as a family for a rejuvenating interlude, the place adapts with a rare fluidity.

Our feeling

With Surrenne, the Maybourne group sets a new benchmark in the world of luxury wellness. Far from being a simple hotel spa, it’s a place in its own right, a new standard in urban wellness, at the crossroads of care, science and elegance. If you’re looking for a break to recharge your batteries in a setting as beautiful as it is innovative, don’t hesitate to step through the doors of this London temple to well-being.
