An island dedicated to wellness, elitist and exclusively for women? Although the concept drew a lot of criticism for its extreme feminism, it has been a total success. Explanations.
Located just a hundred kilometers from Helsinki, a small Finnish island in the Baltic Sea has become the center of covetousness. Finally, if you’re a woman with a little money to spare and the desire to improve your physical and spiritual well-being… Here it is on satellite view :
The island was bought by Kristina Roth, a German-American entrepreneur who made her fortune in Seattle, and who decided to focus on women’s emancipation by creating SuperShe, exceptional wellness stays where men are not invited. A testosterone-free island. The proof is in the video:

Wellness retreats to strengthen body and mind
“Have you ever wanted to escape to a desert island, breathe in the fresh air, swim naked in the ocean and sleep under the stars?” That’s what the SuperShe website promises, and put like that, it’s pretty tempting. This new-style wellness island has been hosting its first retreats since June 23, 2018.
Only eight women can stay on the island at any one time, in a natural wellness atmosphere with yoga classes, massages, kayak trips, cooking classes and, of course, rustic chic accommodation. Salmon cooked over an open fire and a sauna, Nordic traditions are also well represented.
The spirit is both playful and instructive. In addition to a few guided meditation practices, the women are there to chat, exchange ideas, reinvent their future, talk business, and leave re-vitalized and re-motivated.
Taking time out for yourself, as a woman.
“We want women to be able to relax and learn to listen to their desires in a place that’s safe for them,” says Kristina Roth. According to her, excluding men allows women to refocus on themselves without being disturbed by the opposite sex… A much appreciated space in a world still dominated by men.
How much do these retreats cost? Around 4,000 euros for a week. But even if you can afford it, you’ll also have to please the founder, as Kristina herself accepts booking requests after scrutinizing your answers to her questionnaire. And here, too, places are hard to come by, as only 120 women were accepted last summer out of over 8,000 applications!
Given the resounding success of her initiative, Kristina Roth is in the process of extending her SuperShe concept to other islands, with the next one due to open in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
