What makes a good yoga retreat? The quality of teaching, of course. But for those of us who love excellence, the quality of the accommodation, the setting and the healthy cuisine count just as much as the reputation of the yoga teacher! So here’s our selection of the best yoga retreats taking place in France throughout the year, to combine luxury and well-being .
Yoga retreats: Le Tigre Yoga Club
The Tigre Yoga Club needs no introduction, with clubs and capsules all over Paris (and now in Monte-Carlo and Lyon) offering yoga and treatments in a chic, trendy atmosphere. It’s hardly surprising that the phenomenal success of “Le Tigre” has prompted its founder Elodie Garamond to launch a comprehensive range of yoga retreats. The choice of locations reflects the high standards of the clientele.
Yoga retreats usually last around 3 or 4 days, for a long weekend of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Tigre Yoga Club’s extensive offering includes recurring retreats at Ferme de Marie in Megève, the “Pure Altitude Yoga Retreat”, featuring hatha, nidra and yin yoga, along with mountain walks, meditation and detox cuisine, in a dream setting. From €1,645 per person in a Classic Single Room.
Tiger Yoga Club also offers retreats on the Côte d’Azur at La Vigne de Ramatuelle, a beautiful establishment with a yoga room. The April 2020 “Happy Yoga Retreat” offers 4 days of bliss dedicated to the well-being of body and mind… On the program: Hatha yoga, contemplative walks along coastal paths, daily meditations, energy treatments, and of course the inevitable healthy juices, priced at 1350 euros.

Yoga retreats: Yuj Yoga Studio
In the same vein as Tigre Yoga, Hélène Duval has created a series of popular Parisian studios, whose concept has also been “exported” to Chamonix. The studios have an original approach, with a warm atmosphere thanks to the presence of candles and infrared light, to combine yoga & sweating.
As far as yoga retreats are concerned, the idea is to select places easily accessible from Paris for short stays in France (3 or 4 days). The retreats have one thing in common: 3 hours of flow and yin yoga a day, 2 guided hikes, vegan detox menus with a Michelin-starred chef, and a body treatment at the spa.
Venues include Villa Calvi, a 5-star hotel in Corsica, and the new Folie Douce Hôtel in Chamonix, a stunning location for a yoga retreat.

Yoga retreats: Les Merveilles
A concept created by Sibylle Grandchamp, fashion and lifestyle journalist for prestigious titles (Vanity Fair, Numéro…), the Merveilles yoga retreats are also on a roll. Its founder’s credo is to find unique and charming places, with a focus on excellent value for money.
Les Merveilles offers a yoga retreat in the private mas of Hameau des Baux, a holistic resort set in five hectares of unspoilt nature at the foot of the Alpilles mountains in Provence. The retreat program includes silence, guided meditations, nature walks, therapeutic massages and daily yoga sessions. The idea is to refocus and strengthen physically, energetically and sustainably.
Les Merveilles also offers an “ayurveda immersion”, combining the benefits of yoga with those of this age-old Indian science.

Yoga retreats at La Ferme Audine
Less upmarket than the above establishments, Ferme Audine is still worth a mention. It’s a place where many yoga retreats are organized, by different speakers every year. Located in Hossegor in the Landes region, just a stone’s throw from the ocean, La Ferme Audine is acclaimed for its warm welcome and top-quality facilities, in an atmosphere that’s more Balinese than French! This 6-hectare property offers a haven of peace where you can indulge in the joys of yoga in the midst of nature.
