With its brand new spa, a true sanctuary of well-being by Clarins, the hotel stands out as a great address for lovers of relaxation and discreet luxury. Upon arriving at Le Mas Candille, it is hard not to be charmed by the setting. Nestled in a 4-hectare park, this former rehabilitated Provençal farmhouse has managed to retain all its charm, even though, I admit, the winter sun does not highlight its features as much. Yes, winter! Not the season one spontaneously associates with Provence. No lavender fields or cicadas, but a soothing atmosphere, a soft light, and a place that seems to breathe tranquility…
The establishment offers a harmonious ensemble of Provençal buildings, after a complete renovation entrusted to the young architect and decorator Hugo Toro. The charm operates immediately.
The hotel offers a total of 45 rooms and suites. Le Mas Candille is not one of those hotels that impresses from the first seconds. I think it is a place that is discovered slowly, savored gradually.
My room: a Deluxe Vallée
Upon entering my Deluxe Vallée room at Le Mas Candille, I was struck by the attention to detail. Under my feet, the thick carpet with a delicate pattern gives a feeling of comfort and quality. In the center stands a large king size bed, topped with an elegant red leather skirt, specially designed for Le Mas Candille by Hugo Toro.
The lighting fixtures, also designed for the occasion, bring a gentle warmth to the space, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Next to it, the ash desk with curves inspired by the 1940s, adorned with a collection of carefully selected books, invites relaxation or a few moments of writing. Each piece of furniture has been carefully chosen: custom-made armchairs and vintage objects that add a unique soul to the room. The bathroom is not left out: the pink marbles from Norway elegantly dress the shower and bathtub, offering a subtle and refined contrast. From the balcony, the view of the Grasse valley stretched out before my eyes, revealing the peaceful beauty of the surrounding hills and plains.
A very successful spa
Let’s move on to the heart of the experience that interests us at Luxe Wellness Club: the spa. Le Mas Candille is proud of its Glow House, a wellness space offering treatments focused on light therapy and advanced technologies.
The wellness journey begins with a choice: sauna or hammam? Dry and penetrating heat to relax muscles and soothe tensions, or hot and humid steam to release toxins and purify the skin? Two complementary rituals that lay the foundation for deep relaxation. To prolong the benefits, a cold pool awaits the bravest to stimulate circulation and revitalize the body.
The treatment area extends over 450 m², with three bright individual cabins, each with its own private terrace, where one can extend the moment after a treatment. For couples or friends wishing to share this experience, a double cabin allows for a duo ritual.
In the expert hands of Clarins practitioners, treatments take on a new dimension: the precise gestures and rich textures of the products promise radiant skin and a peaceful mind. My treatment of the day was a relaxing massage, and I must applaud the masseuse for her expertise. Every movement was precise, tailored to my needs, and perfectly measured. If I had to find a flaw? Time flies too quickly when you’re in such hands…
The spa offers different experiences, including a chromotherapy session combined with guided relaxation. I tested the Myblend face mask, an ideal tool to combat the dull complexion of winter, though probably not long enough to have immediate effects on the skin. But it makes you want to have it at home!
Finally, the indoor-outdoor pool heated to 27 degrees Celsius even in winter, open to the surrounding nature, is the highlight of the show. Here, bathed in the soft light of Provence, one savors a suspended moment, between two strokes, facing a panorama that breathes tranquility.
For those who prefer to combine well-being and fitness, the spa also offers a gym equipped with the latest Technogym equipment: treadmills, bikes, ellipticals… everything is there for an effective and dynamic session.
Gastronomy: a pleasant surprise
While winter light can be a bit of a spoiler, there is one area where Mas Candille excels without question: gastronomy. The hotel’s restaurant offers refined cuisine that is worth lingering over. Honestly, I expected a good meal, but I was genuinely surprised by the quality of the dishes served at Table des Pins. Between Provençal inspirations and Mediterranean influences, the cuisine surprises with its generosity and elegance. Here, nothing is set in stone: the menu evolves with the seasons and the arrivals from the best local producers, enhancing products of impeccable freshness.
From the first bite, you can feel the care given to each plate, arranged with remarkable precision. The chef skillfully plays with textures and flavors, blending tradition and creativity to offer dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious.
The buffet breakfast was another delightful moment. The cappuccino was excellent. Some fresh fruits, quality pastries, cereals… but also a good tart of the day. Healthy friends, don’t worry: I was able to enjoy a detox juice, smoked salmon, and the essential avocado toast with poached egg.
